Putnam County resident Steven Dorazio of Mahopac died on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the age of 62, according to his obituary.
Born in Port Chester in 1960, Dorazio was raised in the village and eventually graduated from Port Chester High School in 1978. Although he later moved to Putnam County, he remained tied to his hometown by becoming the owner of Port Chester-based Dazco Heating and Air Conditioning Corp.
Known for his love of hunting and the Catskill Mountains, Dorazio "lived for an adventure," according to his obituary.
"Although he was taken too soon, he made sure to live life to the fullest and always came home with endless tales of his incredible journeys. He often described himself as 'dynamite', and he was right," Dorazio's obituary said.
His love for being outside was so powerful that it could only be trumped by his love for his family, including his wife, Laura Black, whom he married in 1986 at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye.
In addition to Laura, Dorazio is also survived by his children, Steven, Corrie, Alissa, Jesse, and April; his grandchildren, Lila and Adam; and his brothers, Fabian "Chipper" and Philip.
A service for Dorazio will be held on Friday, Oct. 27 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. in Port Chester at 40 Leicester St. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye at 910 Boston Post Rd.
